Wallet know-how: types, security & buying crypto anonymously
A wallet doesn't store your coins themselves, but your keys — the public one (like an account number, safe to share) and the private one (like your PIN, stays secret). Whoever holds the private key holds the money. So: your own wallet = your own control.
Hot vs. cold wallet
Hot wallet (software): an app on your phone or PC, online, convenient for everyday use — e.g. POCKET or Exodus. Cold wallet (hardware): a small offline device for larger amounts, very secure but less convenient. Many people combine both.
| Hot / software | Cold / hardware | |
|---|---|---|
| Cost | free | purchase needed |
| Security | good (online) | very high (offline) |
| Best for | everyday, small amounts | long-term, larger amounts |
A software wallet is enough for our payments
You don't need expensive hardware to pay for IPTV. A simple software wallet like POCKET is perfectly sufficient — it's free, set up in minutes and you can pay right away. A hardware wallet only becomes worthwhile once you want to store larger amounts long term.
Can I buy Bitcoin anonymously?
Bitcoin is not anonymous but pseudonymous: all transactions are public, but without your name. Your privacy depends on where and how you buy. Options with little or no verification:
- POCKET / Bity — Swiss apps, buy without ID up to a daily limit.
- Bitcoin ATMs — buy with cash, often without identity checks.
- Peer-to-peer (Bisq, RoboSats) — decentralized, more technical knowledge needed.
Protecting your privacy is your right. Still, check the rules in your country, and always use the individual address from your invoice for each payment.
